Weather
So far we've had great weather for this run. The Almanac concurs, August is one of the best months in the Northwest. Having said that, you should be prepared. In the past we've also had pretty cool temperatures in the morning, below freezing temperatures overnight (I've froze in my tent), and really warm temperatures in the afternoon.
Who knows what this year will bring? I'd suggest checking weather.com the week before the run. Also make use of drop bags. You can start with warmer clothes and shed them along the run. You can put extra water bottles in the drop bag if it gets hot.
Check out the US Naval Observatory for Sandy Oregon's Sun Data on this year's race day.
Note: For the 50 Mile early start at 5:30 a.m. you must have a flashlight with you. It gets real dark in them woods.
Great weather on a past race day. This shot is from Timothy Lake campground.
